At Sano, our Platform team builds the infrastructure, tools, and systems that power every engineering team. With new product launches, bespoke client needs, and Series B on the horizon, we’re scaling fast - and investing in the foundations that make that possible.
As a Platform Engineer, this role is a chance to shape how our platform evolves: improving developer experience, scaling infrastructure, and driving reliability across everything we build. You’ll work closely with Engineers, Product Managers, Compliance, and Business Ops to make sure we’re set up for scale - and staying ahead of growing demands.
You’ll thrive if you enjoy diving into complex systems - understanding how everything fits together, spotting improvements, and helping others navigate that complexity.
Headlines:
- Role - Platform Engineer
- Salary - £70,000 - 80,000 pa
- Location - UK (remote only)
How you’ll make an impact:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructure
- Define and refine platform processes that support product and engineering teams as we grow
- Improve developer experience by enhancing CI/CD pipelines for faster, safer releases
- Shape platform solutions that meet evolving business and technical challenges
- Monitor system health and performance, tackling issues before they affect users
- Champion best practices in platform engineering, security, and reliability across teams
- Contribute to architectural decisions around infrastructure, observability, and cloud-native services
- Support and mentor peers through code reviews and design discussions
This job is for you if you:
- Have proven experience in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or site reliability engineering roles
- Know AWS inside out (especially IAM and ECS), and have strong knowledge of containerisation and orchestration (Docker/ECS)
- Have hands on experience using Terraform to manage infrastructure and automate workflows using tools like CI/CID, GitHub Actions or Python
- Communicate clearly - you can explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Understand networking, security, and data compliance fundamentals
- Take a methodical, detail oriented approach to solving problems and debugging
- Thrive in a fast-moving, collaborative SaaS environment
Even better if you have:
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Honeycomb)
- A background in performance tuning and cost optimisation in cloud environments
- Experience building and collaborating in a remote-first environment
This role is unlikely to be a great match if:
- You haven’t worked with Terraform or AWS recently
- You struggle to work autonomously without clear instruction and support.
- You prefer highly defined roles and responsibilities – we need adaptability and autonomy in a fast-growing startup
Research shows that some people are less likely to apply for a role unless they are 100% qualified. Your experience, skills and passion will set you apart so tell us about your achievements, irrespective of whether they are personal or work-related, tell us about your journey, and about what you learnt.
So, if this role excites you, don't let our role description hold you back, get applying!

About Sano Genetics
At Sano, our mission is simple but ambitious: to accelerate the future of personalised medicine.
Finding, screening, and engaging patients for clinical trials is often slow, siloed, and inefficient - leading to higher costs, longer timelines, and treatments that never reach the people who need them. We’re changing that.
Sano is the only 360° platform that connects every step of the process; making research faster, more cost-effective, and more inclusive. Our tech-forward, human-first approach empowers Pharma, Biotechs, and patient organisations to run studies digitally and at home, giving patients more choice and a better experience.
We’re growing fast, and we’re building a team of curious, mission-driven people who want their work to have real impact on the future of medicine.
